I developed this QGIS plugin to save myself from doing Area Weighted Average analysis in spreadsheets. It was tedious to copypaste data across GIS and Excel and I could not find any builtin tool to do this in ArcGIS or QGIS. If you are using Excel too to do this, you can also switch to using this 'Area Weighted Average' plugin.

This algorithm calculates weighted average by performing spatial area weighted average analysis on an input polygon layer given the source data in the overlay polygon layer. Each feature in the input layer will be assigned a spatial area weighted average value of the overlay field. A report of the analysis is generated as a GIS Layer and as HTML.
