The 21st Century Iron Silk Road (EP.1) Opening a new Eurasian era 21세기 철의 실크로드 1부 새로운 유라시아 시대를 열다

This year is meaningful as it marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It has also been 27 years since Korea and China established diplomatic ties. Arirang TV filmed a special documentary about the Iron Silk Road, covering 13 cities in Korea, China, and North Korea, to look back on the past century and to project the future of the next century of Korea. The Iron Silk Road' is a railroad network that connects the Eurasian continent. It is a largescale railroad project aiming to combine the TransKorea Railway (TKR), TransSiberian Railway (TSR), TransChina Railway (TCR), and TransManchurian Railway (TMR).

아리랑TV와 해외문화홍보원이 대한민국 임시정부 100주년과 중국 건군 70주년을 기념, 철의 실크로드에 대한 역사적 의미를 고찰하고 신북방정책과 중국 일대일로간의 연계를 통해 향후 100년 청사진을 조망하는 특집 4부작 다큐멘터리이다. '철의 실크로드'란 유라시아 대륙을 잇는 철도망으로 한반도종단철도(TKR)와 시베리아횡단철도(TSR), 중국횡단철도(TCR), 만주횡단철도(TMR) 등을 하나로 묶는 초대형 철도 프로젝트이다. 전문가들은 철의 실크로드가 실현되면 세계 주요 경제축인 유럽연합과 동북아시아가 직접 연결, 두 대륙의 직접 소통과 혁신에 가까운 경제, 문화적인 교류가 이뤄지는 분기점이 되리라 전망하고 있다.
