Acadia National Park has 45 miles of amazing carriage roads open to cycling and without a doubt, the Around the Mountain Loop is the best 11mile ride in the park. We started our ride at the popular Jordan Pond House, but since it’s a loop you could start elsewhere, but keep in mind that parking is often a challenge in summer and fall seasons. You will need a park pass to use the trails.

Traversing the loop in a counter clockwise direction, we pass Jordan Pond and the Bubbles before the grade kicks in. We pass two more bridges on our way to the summit. From the Summit we have excellent views to the east inducing Eagle Lake, Frenchmen Bay and Pemetic Mountain. As we descend from the shoulder of Sargent Mountain and come around Parkman Mountain, we catch views of Somes Sound. Next we pass under Bald Peak and are treated to two phenomenal Stone bridges and a waterfall. On the southern end the loop we cross our longest bridge, Amphitheater Bridge and two more bridges, as we follow ridge back to the Jordan Pond House.
