Around the UK S2 Ep46. We leave Brighton Marina early in the morning with the sun shinning behind us and barely any wind to sail so it was motor on and head sail out. 3 Hours into our nice peaceful motor sail I went to do my hourly engine check when I could smell fuel, so I took the engine steps cover off to find fuel spraying all over the engine and into the bilges. I immediately switched the engine of and hoped there was enough wind in the head sail to keep us on track while I could find the problem. I could see that the fuel uplift pump was dripping in diesel so I cleaned the fuel away and tightened it up. I took 8 litres of fuel out of the bilge below the engine but when I turned it back on it was still dripping fast so it was time to get the sails out wing on wing and sail at 2.5kts
