Join me for my conversation with Scott Fisher.

We talked about the story behind Scott's popular radio show & podcast, Extreme Genes. Even though Scott isn't regularly releasing new episodes anymore (he is enjoying his retirement and traveling a lot!), all past episodes can still be viewed here. https://www.extremegenes.com/blog?tag...

Since he is no longer tied to his microphone, Scott is enjoying other projects, namely organizing (and publishing!) books of family photos to share with the next generations and exploring his interests in utilizing AI for genealogy. Check out FamilySearch's experimental Full Text search project here you might find your ancestors in previously unindexed records! https://www.familysearch.org/en/labs/

Scott Fisher is a Connecticut native who has been in radio since his
youth, and has spent four decades of spare time as a passionate
“roots sleuth.”  A longtime morning show host, best known for his long
tenure in Salt Lake City, Utah, Fisher is also the author of “New York
City Methodist Marriages, 17851893,” which was published by Picton
Press in 1994.  He has also been published in the New York
Genealogical and Biographical Society Journal, The Catholic
Ancestor, Journal of the Catholic Family History Society of England as
well as the Ensign.  His 16 books on the families of both his and his
wife’s ancestors, written over 30 years, fill the better part of a shelf in
Fisher’s family room library.

In 2013, Scott Fisher started a weekly podcast and radio show called
Extreme Genes, America’s Family History Show.
In the spring of 2015, the remains of a murder victim, who had been
missing since 1983, were found near his home.  When local
authorities were unable to find nextofkin, Fisher offered his services,
locating family after three dedicated weeks of researching,
Facebooking, emailing, and telephoning.  The story received national
attention, and was written up in People, FoxNews, CBS.com, the 48
Hours Facebook page, and countless newspapers.
Fisher and wife Julie have four children, and six grandchildren.
