This vlog is for terms you need to know prior to future vlogs so that if you currently are struggling you are able to follow along better.
These terms were collected from those imprisoned and their signs, HEARD and our signs, and we would like to hear your input on these terminologies or other things you would like to know the signs for or are unsure of. Please feel free to add them in the comments below any of our blogs. We at HEARD will collect them and use them to work together.

Let’s begin.

mass incarceration.
[sign: four fingers from each hand held against each other with one hand perpendicular, brought from left to right.] another sign is [left hand held horizontally, right hand in “hold” shape repeatedly brought under left hand mouth is puffed air out to indicate a whole lot face is indicating a whole lot also].
Next sign is Jail.
The two signs are [two fingers from each hand held against each other perpendicular]
or
[reaches out to grip, as if holding vertical bars].
Next sign is prison
[four fingers from each hand held against each other, either tapping or held together and rocking.]
Immigration
[four fingers from right hand held spread out horizontally in front of MM’s face, brought from left to right in a waving motion.]
ICE
[shows sign for “cops,” a “C” tapped against the left side of his chest where a badge would be]
Prosecutor
[shows the sign for “chaser,” two hands held in fists with thumbs sticking out, one hand in front moving while the other hand follows in a rapid motion, before both hands open up and fall down straight]
