Mayon is one of the Philippines' most active volcanoes. But thousands live a few kilometers away from it, an area that authorities have marked as a permanent danger zone. Steve Lunt travelled to a village in Albay province to understand why residents insist on staying despite having what seems to be a ticking time bomb in their own backyard.
Nepal's economy relies heavily on tourism, a huge industry fuelled mainly by expeditions to Mount Qomolangma or Everest. Disasters in recent years, however, killed a number of mountaineering guides and porters, bringing to the fore the risks they face and the need for government to protect them better. Pearly Jacob spoke with Sherpa expedition workers and their families about their hopes and fears.
