Athena and Poseidon were two of the twelve Olympians. Athena was the goddess of wisdom and war. Poseidon was the god of the sea. The head Olympian was Zeus, who was Poseidon’s brother and Athena’s father. This made Athena Poseidon’s niece. It was well known that the two Olympians had a deep hatred for each other. This was because of a competition between the two of them to see who would be the patron god/ goddess.
