Atmospheric Correction of Landsat Images in ENVI software

Follow
Jude Ejepu

In this tutorial, we will walk through the process of atmospheric correction for Landsat images using ENVI software.
Atmospheric correction is an important step in remote sensing analysis, as it removes the effect of the Earth's atmosphere on the acquired data. This allows us to more accurately interpret the surface reflectance of the Earth's surface, which is crucial for various applications such as land cover mapping and change detection.

We will start by loading a Landsat image into ENVI and choosing the appropriate atmospheric correction algorithm. Next, we will set the necessary input parameters and run the atmospheric correction process. Finally, we will visualize the corrected image and compare it to the original to see the impact of the atmospheric correction.

This tutorial is suitable for beginners in remote sensing and ENVI software, and no prior knowledge is required. By the end of this tutorial, you will be able to confidently perform atmospheric correction on Landsat images using ENVI.

Note: To follow along with this tutorial, you will need to have ENVI software installed on your computer.
