Today we attempted a hike between the two little Kyoto towns of Kurama and Kibune. The hike from Kuramadera Temple to Kifune Shrine is about 5km and takes approximately 23 hours... or so we thought
I would recommend beginning the hike at around 10am, to give yourself plenty of time to take as long as you want on the hike, as it is quite beautiful, especially if you visit in spring like we did! The town at the base of the Kifune Shrine also provides food options if you would like to include lunch.
Please note the opening hours of Kuramadera are 9am to 4pm, while Kifune Shrine closes at 6pm.
I highly recommend coming in Spring (Aprilish) if you can time it with the cherry blossoms. I think next time I will go in autumn, though, because I think that will be absolutely stunning as well!
