The 2025 Audi Q6 etron has been a long time coming, but it's set to propel the German premium brand into the future. Far from just another midsize SUV, the allnew model is a fully electric vehicle (EV) that debuts a futureproof platform for the fourring marque. Needless to say, it means business.

And so it should. After all, the Q6 etron is going tyre to tyre with the BMW iX3 and MercedesBenz EQC in a rapidly expanding zeroemissions segment, with the Polestar 4 also commencing deliveries shortly alongside the secondgeneration Porsche Macan, upon which the Audi is very closely related thanks to their shared Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture.

In this expert review, CarsGuide Journalist Chris Thompson travels to Spain to get an early taste of the new Q6 etron before its Australian launch. The question is, has it become the default option for buyers of premium midsize SUVs?
