Il Buzz Audio REQ è una combinazione di circuiti di filtro passivi e stadi di amplificazione attivi. Molti altri equalizzatori che usano filtri passivi hanno una scelta limitata di frequenza selezionabili, ma il REQ vanta 72 frequenze diverse suddivise in quattro bande per canale. Il modulo di saturazione converte il REQ in un’unità dal suono più “vintage” aggiungendo armoniche al segnale attraverso l’uso di un trasformatore pilotato da un amplificatore “single ended” in classe A.

The REQ is a combination of passive filter circuits and active amplifier stages. Parallel resonant chokes and capacitors form the frequency selective part of each band and these are coupled into the amplifier stage via the boost/cut control. The resulting equalisation is best described as “surreal” and it never sounds hard or harsh. The low frequencies remain tight and powerful with the high frequencies clear and well defined.
