Gracie's chick Tweety is 5 weeks old today! She appears happy and healthy.
Tweety loves watermelon, cantaloupe, and blueberries along with her chick feed.
The flock is doing well. My 2 new hens...Clove and Roberta fit in nicely.
At 5 weeks, chicks will go through visible growth changes, including new primary feathers and a developing ''pecking order''. A pecking order is a basic pattern of social organization within a flock of poultry in which each bird pecks another lower in the scale, without fear of retaliation, and submits to pecking by one of higher rank. Growing birds are now referred to differently. Pullet is the term for a teenage female, while a young male is called a cockerel. Between weeks 7 and 15, the physical differences between genders will become even more obvious.
