In Australia your identity is very important and it is also a key part of the immigration process.

When applying an Australian Citizenship, You must give the Department true and complete information about your identity.
Giving false documents or information is a crime in Australia.


You will need to provide the Department with a range of documents to prove that you are who you say you are and to establish you have not had any serious criminal convictions.

These documents are called identity documents.

You must provide original documents at your citizenship appointment.

You will not be able to complete the application process without these documents.


Evidence of your current residential address.
Evidence of your date of birth, birth name.
and any changes of name.
Evidence of your identity in the community.
Evidence of when you first arrived in Australia.
and your present country of citizenship.
