This week, I'm comparing the positives (and negatives) of travelling with Avanti West Coast and LNER in First Class.

We will be heading up the West Coast Mainline from Crewe to Edinburgh with Avanti West Coast, before swapping trains and riding with LNER up to Aberdeen.

I'll be showing you the full first class experience, including lounge access at Crewe and Waverley, and we'll be comparing both train operating companies in terms of reliability, punctuality, service/cleanliness, facilities/comfort, food/drink, and of course, value for money.

This is my opinion of both trains on the day of travel but of course I'd love to hear from you as well. Do you agree with my findings or not? What's your experience of either TOC been like in the past?
