If you are camping in grizzly country, there are a few things that you need to be aware of in order to avoid conflicts with bears. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West hopes you have a great camping trip!

Some tips:

Keep a clean camp. When you are done cooking, make sure everything is clean, and put away anything that generates an odor.

Anything with odors needs to be put either in bear safe container (provided at many campgrounds) or hung from a a rope at least five feet from any tree and with at least twelve feet of clearance underneath so a bear can't reach it.

If you let your pet run loose, that pet might go out and find a bear and run back to you and try to hide behind you.

Camp far from game trails as bears are attracted to them.
