The blue line snapper is native to the coral reef habitats from eastern Africa through Polynesia. It is only found outside of its native range in Hawaii, where it was deliberately introduced in the midtwentieth century. The blue line snapper was introduced to enhance sport fishing, today it is listed as an invasive species.

My friend drew is teaching me how to spearfish. I wasn't fully committed and brought along a damashi and caught about 15 snapper. I don't have the equipment to film while diving, but I am working on that. The goal being pelagic spearfishing. The dive was unsuccessful, but it went a long way in getting me comfortable with the gear and getting in and out of the kayak with it on.
