Sometimes the days in the lives of the elephants really show up their different personalities and in this video we see Khanyisa as the busybody she is. This calf just wants to enjoy herself and play with her friends, but she has to contend with Pisa today as the two battle over who will get to be closest to Timisa.

Pisa, bless her, has always had a jealous streak when it comes to new youngsters and she even displayed this toward Timisa when the elephant arrived in 2016. But now the two are best friends and it’s Khanyisa who Pisa has taken some time to warm to.

Khanyisa gently and sneakily manoeuvres her way into Pisa’s space so she can be close to Timisa and take up a game of sparring in the sand mound! This behaviour isn’t only typical of bulls but cows too as they practice to spar and enjoy the playful element of jostling together.

Kumbura stays close and enjoys the sand bath while Limpopo and Bubi both get down low like the youngsters and make the most of their mound!

Adoptive mother Lundi does the rounds to keep an eye on everyone as the females frolic and cover their bodies in cooling and protective layers of sand.
