Backpacking Escalante: Harris Wash / Silver Falls / Choprock Canyon / Fence Canyon

Utah's Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. What an awesome place. I spent 5 days out hiking from Harris Wash, across the Escalante River, then into Silver Falls Creek. After walking Silver Falls I looped around using old abandoned mining paths onto the benches below the Circle Cliffs where I entered upper Choprock Canyon. This was the star of the show amazing narrows, towering canyon walls. After exiting Choprock I followed the Escalante again a short distance to Fence Canyon, which I used to exit out of the Escalante basin to the Egypt Trailhead. I met some really cool people along the way and had an amazing time. Thanks for watching!

This route is almost completely offtrail. Route finding and navigation skills are a must in the Escalante canyons. This video and route is not meant to be used as a guide. Buy the Michael Kelsey and Steve Allen books and familiarize yourself with the area before you go.
