This rio cobre dam started to be constructed at the end of 1898 and by June 1899the dam was completed it was used to power hydroelectric power plant on the river it was used to power Kingston tramway system,until then the car were hauled by a pairs of mule’s in June 1904 a accident took place where 33 workers died while cleaning the huge water pipes that feed the power station.That plant was one of the earliest in the Western Hemisphere was closed in August 1966.
