The Barr Emerger is a great fly for western tailwaters. The Barr Emerger is made to imitate the smallest mayflies and midges. The most popular colors are BWO and PMD. This video is the BWO version of the Barr Emerger. The Barr Emerger is best when tied in sizes #1622, but can be tied larger. It can be tied with or without beads and flashback material. My personal favorite is a non beaded and flashback version.

Body: Olive Superfine Dubbing
Casing: Hackle Fibers and Medium Pearlescent Tinsel

Legs: Grey Hackle Fibers or Partridge Feather
