Basic Pilot Radio Communications | Non-Towered Airport

Freedom Flight

If you are new to flying, talking on the radio as a student pilot probably sounds intimidating. Come along with Cheyenne and I as she makes her first pilot radio calls in the local traffic pattern of a nontowered airport.

Here is my list of recommended things to purchase if you are just getting started flying. Regardless of where you learn to fly, it is good to have these on hand. The FAA manuals can be downloaded for free but I still prefer to have a printed copy. You can purchase from Amazon here:

AIRPLANE FLYING HANDBOOK https://amzn.to/3WmsIfi
PILOTS HANDBOOK OF AERONAUTICAL KNOWLEDGE https://amzn.to/37XxsE2
FAR/AIM https://amzn.to/3vkXsln
PILOT LOGBOOK I recommend if just getting started: https://amzn.to/3zOxfxi

and also download pdf versions for free from the FAA here:

Here’s a helpful Advisory Circular on communicating at a nontowered airport.
