Basic Weathering on a Panzer Grey Finish - Winter Effects Tutorial PART 1

Hello everybody and welcome to the first installment of my new weathering series for winter vehicles, featuring Dragon's 1/35th scale Panzer III Ausf.J. In this video I show how I created some basic weathering effects on the underlying layer of paint on the tank, which will be covered up by the winter whitewash as shown in the next video in this series. The weathering effects I show here are only the easiest and most obvious techniques, as there is not much use in putting hours into complex techniques like oil fading when most of it is going to be covered up by the winter camouflage.

Of course, these techniques still apply to weathering tanks without a whitewash on top, so any of the filtering, chipping, and streaking effects I demonstrate here can be applied to any model to achieve whatever finish you desire. However, on this tank I did not apply a wash until after the whitewash (next video) was sprayed over top of this initial layer of panzer grey here, so if you're following this video as a weathering guide for tanks in general, I would also recommend you apply a wash to all the weld seams and details on your model :)

DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.
