➡ “Jerry Was A Race Car Driver” won our latest poll, so I’m back with MORE Primus! Out of the few ‪@officialprimus‬ songs I’ve heard so far, I definitely think this is the weirdest one. The song subverts everything I know about traditional songwriting and harmonic structure, but still sounds cohesive with a really unique (and fun) vibe. In this video, I react to a live performance from Live from MTV's Haunted House Party (1993) and discuss their unique usage of dissonance, Les' twohanded bass tapping techniques, how he mutes the strings, his very twofold bass tone throughout the performance, his slap bass and strumming technique, how this song breaks all the songwriting rules, how dissonance can actually sound pleasant, and much more.
