Alfonso VI, rey del Reino de León, junto a su leal Álvar Fáñez, continuaban ampliando su territorio bajo la atenta mirada de los reinos de taifas, que independientes y aislados no podían reunir fuerzas para detener el avance. Solución: Los almorávides.

El imperio almorávide aceptó desembarcar en la península y enfrentarse en una gran batalla campal contra las fuerzas cristianas, con la intención de demostrar en toda la península que eran ellos los nuevos dueños del territorio.

Así comenzó la conquista almorávide de las taifas. La edad media y la reconquista en todo su esplendor.
