The Batate Song is a special appetizer made in most konkani households. It is a curry that can instantly tantalize and wake your taste buds due to its spicy and sour taste. It is very delicious and goes very well with dalitoy and curds.

It's an oniontomato masalabased spicy potato curry that uses tomato or tamarind water as a souring agent. We have used tomatoes in this video. My grandmother's take on the recipe is to add a few pods of garlic which enhances the flavors in the dish. Do give it a try!

INGREDIENTS:
3 Onions 1 finely chopped, 2 cubed
2 Tomatoes cubed
2 Boiled Potatos cubed and smashed
45 Pods Garlic smashed
2 Heaped Teaspoons of Red Chilli Powder
2 Tablespoons Coconut oil
23 Teaspoons Crystallized Salt to taste
