Every comic book cover Batgirl has graced . As well as trying to represent every tv appearance made by Barbara Gordon As Batgirl & oracle. Batgirl the character actually appeared a few years before Betty Kane was the sidekick of Batwoman, but it was Commissioner Gordon's daughter and the weekly Batman tv show that made the character popular. I was surprised to find out how little Batgirl was used, and how few covers she graced before the Joker shot her through the spine in Alan Moore's gripping graphic novel, "The Killing Joke" After she took the mantle of "Oracle" in Suicide Squad #23 her popularity soared. Helping her to become a central figure in the DCU in the late 90's all the way to the start of DC Comics New 52.

Barbara Gordon was the first modern age Batgirl until she was brutally shot by the Joker, rendering her paralyzed from the waist down. Barbara reinvented herself as Oracle, providing intelligence to the DCU heroes and leading the Birds of Prey. She has recently become Batgirl once again to protect Gotham City.
