Jean Bart, the second Richelieuclass battleship, was launched after the outbreak of World War II. To prevent her from being captured by the enemy, the unfinished ship was taken to Casablanca, where construction continued. During the Allied landings in Casablanca, Jean Bart put up resistance and was heavily damaged by battleship Massachusetts. The construction of the ship was completed only after the war.
