HOUSE RENO PLAYLIST:

In this video, I share my design plans for renovating the bedroom of my 120yearold Victorian duplex in Nova Scotia. I dive into my inspirations, limitations, and sources for materials, while using clips that didn't fit into the main video.
Initially inspired by Scandinavian design, we take a look at my time living in Denmark, my bedroom there, and look at how I aim to recreate the cozy, minimalist style I adore in my new home. I show how I use Milanote, an organizational tool, to gather my thoughts, images, and inspirations into a cohesive plan. The design approach includes warm wood tones, natural materials like jute and plants, and a clean white and bright green palette.
However, due to budget constraints and limited local resources, my final bedroom design took a shart Uturn and evolveed into a Scandinavianinspired folk art style. I incorporated a thrifted duvet cover with vibrant colors and whimsical patterns as the centerpiece, and this broader color scheme allowed me to find matching thrifted items more easily.
I also share my plans to upcycle furniture, such as painting a dresser with Norwegian Rosemaling patterns (although time constraints prevented me from completing it before leaving for a work contract).
