They arrested me for attempted murder. Now I'm going to prison and these are my first days. From this moment, I am arrested together with potential murderers, rapists, and drug dealers. There should be "only" six hundred inmates but the South Cotabato Jail in the Philippines is completely overcrowded. There are over two thousand of them. The cells are bursting at the seams. Yet no one in here has already been convicted. We're in pretrial detention, and no one knows how long. Some have been waiting for years. The power in here is not the guards, but the prisoners themselves. And I have to try to survive in here somehow…
