BELEM in Lisbon Portugal: from Pastel de Belem to Torre de Belem 😁😋😅

Follow
Renata Pereira

Belem is a freguesia (civil parish) and district of Lisbon, Portugal, famous for the original pastel de Belem (sold in the shop called Pastéis de Belém) and also for some of the most notable monuments of Lisbon, like the Belem Tower (Torre de Belém), the Jerónimos Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos), the Padrão dos Descobrimentos monument, and Belém Palace (official residence of the President of Portugal). We didn't visit the Belém Palace (next time ), but managed to see all others.

Belém is heavily associated with the age of discoveries in the 16th century, when Portuguese navigators sailed to explore the world. It's located about 25 min west of Praça do Comércio in downtown Lisbon if you come by elétrico (# 15E), as we did. Very worth the day trip. But if you're more curious to discover the difference between pastel de Belem and pastel de nata, keep watching as well .

Lisbon is the capital and largest city of Portugal, with about 3 million people living in the metropolitan area. It's mainland Europe's westernmost capital and the only one along the Atlantic coast. And Belem's history is deeply connected to the ocean.

► WHO AM I?

I am a BrazilianAmerican journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is CanadianAmerican and he's actually camerashy, that's why he's behind the camera most of the time
