Belize is a small paradise on the Caribbean coast, with an even smaller population. Yet, despite almost bypassing it during our tour of Central America, it quickly became one of our favorite countries. More often known for its stunning islands, mainland Belize is typically overlooked for backpacking and travel.

However, the country has a strong focus on wildlife and environmental conservation. As a result, despite its relatively small size, there's a large amount of forest reserves, parks, and backcountry access. This means for Overlanding, van life, 4x4 and offroad adventures, there's no shortage of things to do and places to see. Mainland Belize strongly focuses on camping, hiking, and exploring its diverse landscape.

Belize also has a diverse population, that seems to all coexist in an effortless mesh of different cultures. Here you can find Mexican and Latin dishes, Caribbean food, and Mennonite cheeses among others. With truly kind and laidback people, Belize quickly became one of our favorites.

In fact, we liked it so much, we came back for a second tour.
