Benzil dimethyl ketal - Will it polymerize?

Ilusys Systems

I guess more of a lab notes than any conclusive video. Sry, I don't know what am I doing...

Time of MMA plymerization for all samples:
23min | 24 | 8% DBMK
30min | 34 | 2% DBMK, 0.5% TEA
37min | 23 | 4% DBMK
43min | 22 | 2% DBMK
47min | 33 | 0.5% DBMK, 0.5% TEA
55min | 21 | 1% DBMK
120min | 32 | 0.2% DBMK, 0.5% TEA
??? | 31 | 0.1% DBMK, 0.5% TEA

Each sample was polymerized in 18mm test tube with 3W 400nm LED. Setup was not cooled and temperature rised significantly over time so this was probably also a factor.

I imagine, that in commercial resins the viscosity is modified to limit thermal transfer and mainly evaporation, which is cooling MMA and therefore it polymerizes slower. Also for better application on surfaces obviously. This is quite delicate balance though as you must not boil the MMA, unless they use monomer with higher BP. but dentists use MMA so it must be possible to do.
