( CORRECTION: The video says September 8 but the launch date was actually October 8. )
I just watched the most amazing rocket launch. I just had to share it.
It was a typical Falcon 9 flight with a drone ship landing, but the camera views were so sharp, the lighting so perfect that you can even see the coldgas thruster plumes from the protective shield halves. Until now I did not know the shields had their own thrusters.
But best of all, a mindblowing view of the upper stage still rising in the sky, it's plume glowing in the sunlight AS SEEN FROM THE DRONE SHIP. You can see it at the 5:55 minute mark. The final shot of the rocket sitting on the deck with the plume visible in the background is posterworthy.
This may also be the first deck landing I have viewed where the shipmounted camera did not glitch out. Nice to see they finally solved that.
I hope you enjoy. I certainly did. Happy flying!
