This may be the coolest CLOUDFREE view of the USA at night I have seen.

This short clip posted by NASA shows the location of most of the population of the continental United States. The gridlike patterns of the agricultural midwest area and the scarcelypopulated desert and mountain regions of the far west are clearly visible.

The Great Lakes look like four dark blobs. The highly populated New York and upper east coast area is extremely illuminated, as is the Los Angeles basin at lower left on the west coast. I can even spot welllit Las Vegas in the middle of the dark desert east of L.A.
