Body Fix Exercises

Do 'Posture Correctors' work? How about an ‘Upright Go 2’, a ‘Rest Cloud’, ‘Back Stretcher’, or a ‘Yoga Posture Stick’? If you’re trying to fix bad posture, some postural devices can really help. Others look good, but in reality, they’re useless. So, in this video I show you both the worst & best postural devices on Amazon to help fix forward head posture for good.

POSTURE CORRECTORS / POSTURE BRACES:

These essentially just pull our shoulders back. And it makes us a bit more aware of overall posture. But they do very little for the neck & spine positioning. And if anything, it makes our muscles weaker, because we are relying on the brace instead of our muscles. So, braces can be helpful in small doses only, an hour or two a day, but that’s it.

UPRIGHT GO2 REVIEW:
Out of all the electronic devices that assess the position of our spine and give us postural feedback, the Upright Go2 is the best posture detector I’ve come across. (***Note: I have not received ANY sponsorship from Upright Go at all. In fact, I tried to score a free Upright Go2 posture detector from the company, and noone ever responded to my emails.)

The Upright Go2 is a smart posture corrector that you stick on your upper spine that measures your inclination. Once you start to slouch it vibrates to remind you to straighten up. You still need to do exercises to mobilise, strengthen and stretch, but this little device helps to correct bad postural habits, especially at a desk.

You sit up straight, press a calibration button to set that position as the “good posture” default for the next hour or two, and it starts assessing your inclination. With the app, you can vary the amount time that it detects bad posture before it vibrates… how strict it is on the inclination before alerting you… and the intensity of the vibration. It even advises you on a recommended daily amount of usage each day that slowly increases. Just having it on made me more conscious of my position. I found myself looking down with my eyes rather than my head.

WHERE TO PLACE THE UPRIGHT GO2 ON THE SPINE: Some people said the detector didn’t notice the bad neck posture, but I suspect that these people placed the device too low on their spine. I’d recommend putting it just below the neck so that it detects both your neck AND upper back position.

SOME CONS OF THE UPRIGHT GO2: It’s not perfect. I read about connectivity & glitching issues, and the app draining your phone battery, but I personally didn’t experience any of those issues. It’s pretty small, so you have to charge the electronic device every day (or two at the most). You do need to buy extra sticky pads eventually too, but if you get the Upright Go 2 necklace (or ‘collar’) to help keep the device in place, the sticky pads last longer. It may not last forever, but by then your posture habits should be a lot better. It could be annoying if you’re moving about doing things—where you need to bend forward frequently—so it’s more for when you are just sitting. But I’d definitely recommend it for desk workers. I did not try the Upright Go S.

POSTURE PUMP / POSTURE PUMP DISC HYDRATOR:
I feel like the name of this device is deceptive. The details you see about the device don’t actually talk about helping with posture. It basically just increases the neck arch, and can be used with a pumping action. This can help some people with ‘military neck’ or neck stiffness, but it doesn’t help posture in my opinion.

RESTCLOUD / NECKCLOUD / NECK STRETCHER:
These actually feel nice but don’t help with poor neck posture either. You could use a rolledup towel for the same thing. (I tried it & they were basically the same.) So the same result as the Posture Pump.

BACK STRETCHER / BACK CRACKER:
I actually like this for mobilising the lower part of the thoracic spine, but for bad neck posture it’s not much help.
