It has long been a dream of Football Manager players to know the best tactic. Everything equal, remove the million different qualifiers from what your wonderkids are good at to how fit your team is to what the board once and just make everything equal, then see which tactic wins. Well, good news, we have the best tactic in Football Manager 2022! The top five actually, as FMBase has remade a better version of their ‘tactic tester’ that subjects submitted tactics to a rigorous, completely level database to determine a winner.

It tests the tactics in two specialty categories as well, subaverage and underdog, to see which FM tactic might really help you survive the better teams or perhaps cause an upset against the big bully. You could use those tactics or watch me win the Champions League two years ago with BATE, because whatever tactic I used to beat PSG there might be the most effective ‘underdog’ tactic of all time. It wasn’t tested though, and these were, so there’s that.
