The Treasures of Our Collections series encompasses a variety of presentations on various topics and items from our collections. Each presentation has been developed by the curators and archivists in Special and Area Studies Collections at the Smathers Libraries.
The Department of Special & Area Studies Collections encompasses collections of unique and special types of materials (e.g., rare books, maps, archives, and manuscript collections) and interdisciplinary collections pertaining to geographical, national or cultural regions. The collections directly support a variety of academic disciplines and research programs.
The Smathers Libraries partner with UF faculty, students and staff, as well as the University’s collaborators and constituents, to facilitate knowledge creation that contributes to UF’s standing as a preeminent public research university. The Libraries encourage creativity and inquiry necessary to support the University’s global ambitions and play an important role in attracting and retaining top students, faculty and staff.
