Biography on Gaston D'Orléans The Brother Of Louis XIII: Gaston of France, Duke of Orléans was born on April 25, 1608 in the Chateau de Fontainebleau and died on February 2, 1660 in Blois Castle. He was a son of King Henry IV and Maria De Médicis, and thus a prince from the French royal house of Bourbon and the younger brother of King Louis XIII.
Gaston carried the titles Duke of Anjou (16081640), Duke of Orléans and Chartres and Count of Blois (from 1626), Duke of Montpensier and SaintFargeau (from 1627), Duke of Valois (from 1630), Duke of Alençon and Baron von Amboise (from 1646).
