Blackstar FPV Viper 90mm Sharing our Team Equipment & Setup

Blackstar FPV Demo Team airplanes are no secret, you can build one for yourself easily! This video covers some of the important tools we have at our fingertips, how we set them up, and how you can get your hands on them as well. We do this for the hobby and we hope you enjoy this stuff as much as we do!

MOTIONSIC BAG (BADASS GIMBAL) NOW AVAILABLE

FrSky Tandem X20s
Tandem X20s: https://www.frskyrc.com/product/tand...

Our radio of choice is the FrSky Tandem X20s for many reasons. One of the most important things we need from a transmitter is Bluetooth wireless capabilities for our Aerocali Head Tracker (available from Design Pad). FrSky radios (even ones running OpenTX) that have PARA Wireless can use our Head tracker! In fact we have several of our own OpenTX transmitters using both wired and wireless long before we used the X20s. Tandem X20s is running ETHOS OS on the latest firmware at the time of filming.

Design Pad is where we share all of our projects with you and tell you how to build your own FPV setup. Share and design projects of your own and search other that people have created. We have uploaded all of our projects to the site and encourage all our viewers to visit the site. We are "Tinkerers" and we love to build, our goal is to advance the hobby and share our passion.

A3SUPER Hobby Eagle Gyro:
Hobby Eagle A3 Super Gyro: https://hobbyeagle.com/products/a3s3/

Great Gyro, easy install and great results! We have our gain assigned to a gain knob on the transmitter. We adjust the gyro depending on field conditions that day and use AUTO LEVEL mode in case of an emergency in flight. " What happens if your Camera / video goes out?" is the #1 question we get. We simply switch the plane into AUTO LEVEL mode and remove our goggles and work with our spotter if needed to keep flying the plane. In a coming video we will share all of our preflight checks and emergency procedures we have setup incase something goes wrong.

NOTICE THE CANOPY HAD A UNIQUE 6PIN CONNECTOR???

We can show you how to clean up your canopy setup to be like ours. We found a simple 6pin connector used for automotive stereo and used to to run power to our pan /tilt servos and DJI air Unit. We also use the 6pin connector to run our video and signal wires to the servos.

The "BRUCE LEE SHRUG" a bit more defined:

Each time you take your goggles on /off its best to recenter the head tracker by doing the Bruce Lee Shrug. The Bruce Lee Shrug is not a normal pilot movement during flight, so the motion is used as a "reset button" for our head tracker. Simply stretch your neck fully to the left and then right ( or right to left) within 1.5 seconds. After stretching look straight forward and the camera will center wherever you are facing. Repeat the process if needed and you are set. This is a fully hands free and easy to to always make sure your head and camera position line up.
