If you want to play some 12bar blues, on bass, you’re going to need to know how to get through the form using authentic sounding blues bass lines.

Once you do this, you can go virtually anywhere in the world bass in hand and jam with other musicians.

The blues is almost universally known, so if you ever find yourself playing with new people, you can always use some of these blues bass lines to start making music instantly.

You can start with incredibly simple lines and go all the way up to quite complex. There’s even more complex things you can do with the blues, but these 6 lines will get you started.

We blaze through the lines in the video so if you want all the tabs and notation, plus the backing tracks from all the bass lines in this lesson, you can get them for free here:

With these resources, you’ll be able to start practicing each of these lines quickly and you’ll be jamming with other people in no time at all. Start with the simple ones and work your way up to the more complicated ones.

Remember, you don’t have to be tied to playing just one of these blues bass lines for the whole song. You can mix and match and go between all of them sometimes even in the one song. Just be careful to change at the top of a form to avoid confusing your bandmates.

As always, if you have any questions, just drop them into the comments. I’d be more than happy to help out however I can.

Good luck with the lesson and happy playing!

Cheers,

Luke
