2024 BMW 7Series
Starting at $97.395

Highs: Tranquil cabin, moves through corners like a much smaller car, plenty of hightech doodads.
Lows: Steering is too isolated from the road, objectionable frontend styling, Luddites may be turned off by all the screens.
Verdict: Once you're settled into the 7series sedan's impeccable cabin, you'll forget all about your opinions on its exterior design.

Overview

Radical exterior styling aside, the 2024 BMW 7series follows the same successful formula it has for several generations, marrying big power, a comfortfirst driving demeanor, and a spacious cabin with loads of features. You can get it with a turbocharged inlinesix, a plugin hybrid, or a twinturbo V8, but no matter which engine is under the hood, the 7series delivers a glassysmooth ride and a hushed interior perfect for longdistance treks. When the road turns twisty, the 7series can have a little fun and a rearwheel steering system works to add some agility to the equation. But many will agree that the best seat in the house isn't the one behind the steering wheel. When used as chauffeured transport, the 7series allows passengers to relax and enjoy several tech features, including an optional 31.3inch rear entertainment display that motors down from the ceiling and provides access to streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu.

What's New for 2024?
A plugin hybrid 750e model joins the 7series lineup for 2024. The 750e comes standard with allwheel drive and features a turbocharged 3.0liter sixcylinder engine that's augmented by an electric motor. Together, the two make a robust 483 horsepower and BMW estimates its onboard battery should be large enough to power the big sedan for over 35 miles on electric power alone. Elsewhere, the 740i model is now available with allwheel drive and the 7series's infotainment system has been upgraded from iDrive 8 to iDrive 8.5.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
740i: $97,395
740i xDrive: $100,395
750e xDrive: $107,995
760i xDrive: $122,295

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
As the pinnacle of the BMW lineup, the 7series brings a cornucopia of luxuries to its occupants. Richsmelling leathers, stainless steel accents, and fancy glass and wood trim elements give the 7series' interior a posh vibe; buyers can even choose a new cashmere upholstery option, should it suit their aesthetic. The deluxe interior now has the technology, style, and opulence to better challenge the MercedesBenz Sclass. Passenger space is generous in both the front and rear, but the 7series impresses most when equipped with the Executive Lounge package, which adds poweradjustable reclining rear seats with massage, a wireless smartphone charging pad for the rear seat area, and adjustable neck cushions on the headrests. The trunk is about as large as you'd expect for a fullsize luxury car and a rearseat passthrough offers the ability to haul longer items like skis.
