GM 5L40E Valve body service from draining the oil to test drive.
The Transmission on this BMW X3 2006 M54 Engine was holding too long at high revs. BMW does not recommend any service on this GM 5L40E Transmission. It is considered a lifetime gearbox. To replace the gearbox for a shifting fault is not very economic for an older car. The parts are available under the General Motors numbers and we got a complete rebuild kit as it would cover all we needed for a valve body service.
This is a long video and you can see the valve service from start to finish and could work along with the video. We would recommend that you pause or come back to the parts you need to see.

Rebuilt Valve Body https://amzn.to/2VChRn7 (For when you don't want to rebuild yours)

I found it better to buy the complete transmission gasket set even though I did not need all of the parts. It just made it easy and in the long run it was cheaper than just trying to buy individual gaskets and seals.
