This Boeing 747 of UPS used the entire runway at Cologne that day while departing ot its homebase Louisville. The main runway at Cologne was closed that day due to construction works and that` s why the aircrafts had to land and depart from the shorter runway 24, which has a length of 2450 meters. I saw a B7478F in the schedule but I wasn` t sure if it would realy depart from the short runway or wait for another hour until the long runway would be available again. By my surprise the B747 pushed back and taxied to the short runway. The departure looked quite spectactular because the 747 rotated at the end of the runway.

There was another aircraft which also used the entire runway. An Airbus A330300 of Capital Airlines also rolled down the entire 2450m runway at Cologne before rotating for its long haul flight back home to china. It`s always quite impressive to film at Cologne when the main runway is closed. The A330 operated a few cargo charter flights between China and Cologne.
