Bonus: A Little More Perspective from Adam Rogers

Adam Levy Guitar Tips

When I first moved to NYC in the late 1990s, I was amazed — and a little intimidated — by the city's array of tremendous guitar players. One who particularly stood out, for me, was Adam Rogers — who I first heard as a member of Lost Tribe (   • Lost Tribe  Rhinoceros (1993)  ). He's got blazing technique, yet every note is nuanced. His musical ideas are often cerebral and soulful in the same breath.

I ran into Rogers on the street recently and we started talking about recording at home — something so many of us are doing these days. His approach is different from that of many guitarists I've spoken with, largely because he has incorporated a fairly obscure vintage reeltoreel machine into his home studio. I asked him to meet up for a Zoom chat so I could learn more about what he's up to. Here's part of our conversation.

His latest record, 'Dice,' is available here: https://adamrogersdice.bandcamp.com/a...
