In our postcolonial context, development has been India's foremost national aspiration. In the postliberalisation context, while 'planning' gradually became taboo, with the planning commission being disbanded in 2014, economic 'models' — both for economic analyses as well as policy prescriptions — continue to be a cogent way to navigate the labyrinthic path of economic development.
Given the ubiquity of 'The Kerala Model' in the discourse of policy, often in contradistinction to 'The Gujarat Model', Caucus: The Discussion Forum is pleased to announce a book talk on 'Kerala, 1956 to the present: India's Miracle State', featuring Prof Tirthankar Roy and Dr K Ravi Raman. This book offers a novel perspective on the economic trajectory of Kerala.
