Moja mala kuhinja

Today, my motherinlaw Leni is cooking a classic Brazilian lunch for you.
Join us in this warm collaborative cooking video.
I was very much looking forward to this video and it was very nice when she was at our place and spoiled us with her cooking.
In this video, we will guide you step by step through the entire process, from perfectly cooked rice to preparing juicy, delicious beans.
There is no better food than my mother's, so I am very glad that she taught me how to prepare lunch for my husband, which she also always prepared for him.
At least I'll try to make it similar to hers.
I hope you enjoy this video recipe and you must turn on the translation to understand it because we are speaking in Portuguese in this video.

INGREDIENTS FOR BEANS:

500 g of beans
3 heads of red onion
3 cloves of garlic
olive oil
Carniola sausage (from 250 to 500 g)
sweet red pepper
2 beef cubes for soup
pepper
salt if necessary

Preparation

Put 1 kg of beans in a pan, wash them and add enough hot water to cover the beans.
Let the beans boil for 4 minutes and pour out that water and pour in new hot water.
Boil the beans for about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Do not stir the beans during cooking, or if you have to stir them, do it very gently so that the beans do not fall apart.
Add more hot water during cooking if necessary.
My motherinlaw cooks beans without spices and only when the beans are cooked does she add spices.
We made two types of beans, one with meat and one without.
Here I will write only the recipe with meat, because for vegetarian it is enough just not to put sausage and this recipe refers to 500 g of beans.

Cut 3 small or 2 large heads of red onion into not too small pieces.
My motherinlaw says that otherwise the onion will disappear in the beans and it won't taste good.
Put a little oil in a small pan and when the oil is heated, add chopped red onion.
You don't need to mix the onion, it just needs to brown a little underneath, as if caramelizing.
When the onion is a little sauteed, add 3 cloves of garlic that you pushed through an onion press.
Add chopped sausage from 250 to 500 g.
You need to peel the sausage.
Add some sweet red pepper.
Add 2 beef cubes that you need to crush a little.
Transfer the cooked beans to the saucepan and stir gently.
Do not mix too much so that the beans do not fall apart.
Add salt if necessary and pepper as desired.

Rice recipe

200 g of rice (1 cup)
a little olive oil
2 cloves of garlic
7 g of salt
a cup and a half of water

Wash the rice and leave it in a colander for about 30 minutes to drain completely.
We used basmati rice.
Put a little oil in a pan and when the oil is heated, add the rice.
Stir and let the rice fry a little.
When the rice is a little fried, add 2 cloves of garlic that you pushed through an onion press.
Add about a cup and a half of hot water, about 7 g of salt and cook covered for 8 to 10 minutes.
Stir the rice so that what was at the bottom comes up, but you must not mash it too much.
Remove from heat and leave covered.

In Brazil, beans are always eaten with rice and with it you can make a salad, which is usually made of cabbage or tomatoes.
The beans are sprinkled with Farofa, which is a kind of crumbs made from cassava or cassava roots.
