The lightweight board is only attached to the door. It rides up and down with the door and causes no interference. The 1x4 clears with about 34" to spare. When the 1x4 gets close to the rail it is actually almost completely transitioned to horizontal movement. Since the 1x4 is flush with the outside of the door it adds nothing to the clearance while the door is moving horizontal.
