The HCM could enter service in the 2030s. There is no information yet on the timing of the HVGP system. It is only known that tests with it are planned to begin in the 2030s. Consequently, putting on combat duty will occur in the late 30's or even early 40's.
Hypersonic missile systems are planned to be located on the islands of Kyushu and Hokkaido. The first is as close as possible to China and the island of Taiwan. The second is the closest to Russia. From it to the Kuril Islands is only 7 kilometers or 4.3 miles. And to the Russian mainland Kamchatka, where there are several military bases, 40 kilometers or 25 miles. At a missile speed of Mach 8, that's 15 seconds of flight time.
