Will Dunn is joined by Duncan Weldon to discuss his recent article Britain has never faced decline like this before. The two discuss the “uniquely” bad situation of the British economy, what role Brexit played in getting us here and the lack of radical response from both Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer.

Weldon argues that whilst Brexit is a “slow puncture” on the UK economy, it clearly has a problem with the engine.

When the UK experienced economic decline in the 70s, Weldon argues, there was a brith of radical economic solutions to combat it, what we call “Thatcherism” however the political debate today “those big ideas just aren’t there".
